Upgrate 90 days licence for SQL 2005

  • Bonjour,

I installed SQL 2005 with a 90 days licence. With this licence I prepared a server of production.
Now what I did one receive the normal licence, can install the new licence without reinstalling SQL 2005?
  • From The SQL 2005 Upgrade FAQ...

Q.How easy is it to migrate from a trial version of SQL Server 2005 to the final purchased product?
    A.

Moving to the final purchased product is as easy as installing SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition over the existing trial version installation. Alternatively, you can uninstall the trial version of SQL Server 2005 and install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition or Workgroup Edition.

    Hope this Helps.

  • I have a friend that wants to do this (install the trial and when he is happy, upgrade to the full SQL Server 2005 version).

Any idea if this is just running the setup again (not requiring setting up users, etc. again), or a complete re-install? I'm looking for some documentation on this process, but I haven't come accross any thus far.

  • I would imagine that it would be an install over the current version and would keep all of the users etc.  I have not tested this however.  You'd want to  backup and/or detach/reattach the databases just to be on the safe side I'd imagine.
