Upgrading Reporting services from sql 2000 to 2005

  • Hi,

We are planning do an in-place upgrade. From SQL2005UpgradeTechRef

Reporting Services 2000 is always installed as a default instance. If the report server database resides within the default instance of SQL Server 2000 on the same server, the relational engine and the report server must be upgraded together (if you are performing an in-place upgrade)

1.We have report server database residing within the default instance of sql 2000 on the same server. So we need to upgrade reporting services along with database engine right?

    But againg from the SQL2005UpgradeTechRef

2.Security for the virtual directories must be set to Integrated Windows Authentication; Anonymous Access is not supported for an in-place upgrade.(Note:We have Anonymous access enabled that means we can not do inplace upgrade right?)

From 1st point, we should go for inplace upgrade for reporting services and must be upgrade with database engine.from point 2, we can not do inplace upgrade

    what should I do Now?

    From SQL2005UpgradeTechRef

3.The default Application Mappings should be set as follows:

a.For the report server virtual directory, the wild card mapping must point to the v1.1 aspnet_isapi.dll executable and no other script maps should exist.

b.For the Report Manager virtual directory, the .asax and .aspx extensions must point to the v1.1 aspnet_isap.dll executable.

where exacltly I can find these valuse in report server virtual directory?

please advise me Iam very confused here to which upgrade method I need to choose in-place or side-by-side to upgrade reporting services

  • Could you please give me some points on how can I upgrade reportoing services from 2000 to sql server 2005 considering my scenario.Pease suggest me some step-step document to upgrade Reporting services from 2000 to 2005....
