Upgrading from SQL Server 2005 to 2012

    HI We are planning to upgrade our sql servers 2005 to 2012.

    its not just an upgrade, we are installing a fresh copy of windows and then install 2012.

    Backup to take:

    DB backups, logins, jobs, maintenance plans.

    so my question is:

    is there anything else I need to take backup of other than above?

    what is the process/procedure to follow to take complete backup of Server settings and configurations ?

    This is a big task and you should research into methods/strategy from BOL. I recently did a migration and there is alot to consider. Use the upgrade adviser to your advantage too.
