Hello,
I am a newbie to SQL server, so please excuse me if this is a very trivial question.
My org currently uses SQL server 2005 and has decided to upgrade to 2012 Standard edition.
The DBA dept informed me of the upgrade and asked me to check if I could view my databases in the new server instance.
Currently , I have 2005 Management studio installed on my computer (was using that so far) and I have used that to connect to the new instance of 2012 server. Is this correct what I am doing ?
I could see my old databases in there , but when I tried opening any of the tables , it doesnt allow me giving me the error , "Unspecified error (MS visual Database tools)" .
Any suggestions ??

Hi and welcome to the forums.
While I've never tried to connect to SQL 2012 using SSMS 2005, it makes sense that it wouldn't work fully. I would upgrade to SSMS 2012.

I recently purchased SQL server 2012 standard 10 Cal product key from a store online. It was too good of a deal so I took the risk.
They sent me a link to Microsoft's site to download the evaluation. The product key provided activated the software flawlessly! I saved so much $
The store I purchased from is below.
