I am upgrading a sql server from 2005 to 2008. I took screen shots to document so i'm not crazy, but I upgraded the db engine.
However, I cannot change any of the Databases over to 100 compatibility, and when I type in select @@version I get back
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3042.00 (X64) Feb 10 2007 00:59:02 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
......When I try to run ssms 2005 against it I get an error that the UI i'm using can only connect to sql 2005 or sql 2000 db's. So it seems that sql 2005 knows that we don't match.
Just to be on the safe side I downloaded 2008 SP1, ran it, it installed just fine, option of database engine was checked.
@@version
same results as above.
