I have two servers that I need to upgrade from SQL 2K Standard to SQL 2K Enterprise edition so that I can use log shipping. What is the best method to go about this? Detach databases, uninstall standard then install Enterpise and then reattach databases?? Or can you run install from the CD and just upgrade?
Thanks

I have only downgrade so in my experience, the first option sounds right.

I am agree. And a little note. Don't try to restore msdb or master databases, you can attach or restore only users databases. You have to recreate logins, jobs, etc. with scripts.

Check the article below. It talks about upgrading Personal edition to Enterprise edition.I believe you can use the same process for upgrading to enterprise edition from standard edition. Make sure you have a good backup of your data.
