Hello,
We are planning to upgrade our SQL server from 2012 (failover cluster) to SQL 2016 with Alwayson. I research a lot but couldn't find the exact information. Can anyone please help me with the detail steps that i need to follow for SQL upgrade?
We have new node in SQL 2012.

what is the version of the Windows OS?

Windows 2012 (current version) to Windows 2016 (most probably).

ok, theres no supported WSFC upgrade from windows 2012 to Windows 2016, 2012 R2 to 2016 is possible.
For all the complications you may encounter it would be best to build a new cluster alongside the current, then when ready to migrate move the VNN's and VIPs over to the new cluster

In that case, we may upgrade as follow. Correct me if i am wrong.
1) Create two new SQL 2016 node. Install failover clustering services on this new node.
2) Provisioning same LUN storage to new server as old storage
3) Drain and Evict the the node from old cluster, copy mdf and ldf or backup/restore or log shipping to new node (active) and replicate through AG.

Not the same LUNs, new ones then restore the databases

no need to drain and evict old cluster just switch it off
