hi folks,
I am looking to upgrade my sql from 2005 to 2008 r2. I understand sql 2008 r2 install needs .net 4.0.
Is that just for the server install or does the clients need to have that as well?
If unsure is it possible to leave the client server running .net framework 2.0 connecting to sql 2008 r2 without any issue?

To be completely correct: SQL Server 2008R2 needs .NET framework 3.5 sp1.
I'm not sure about the clients though.
Need an answer? No, you need a question

Client .NET build shouldn't matter a bit if all that's changing is the SQL Server version.
