Here are some log entries after running the Upgrade Advisor against one of our Enterprise Edition ( 64-bit ) instances. I get similar results in QA and various prod instances, all of which are at patch level 11.00.5582
It reports success with no details of any kind in the report, but the log shows things like those below ( I ran the 64-bit version of the tool )

Apparently nobody uses this Microsoft Tool, and I can see why. I upgraded my local sql 2012 installation to SP3 and ran the tool against that. Got the same nonsense about it's inability to check things against that version plus another one implying it can't write reports.

Upgrade advisor is an amazing tool, as the name implies 'Upgrade', tool is meant to use when you are upgrading/migrating from a previous version. It is not meant to use when you are "updating" or "applying" CU's and SP's.

Those odd log errors, and lack of any reporting other than "success, no issues" occurred again on an instance I updated to 2012 SP3.

Those odd log errors, and lack of any reporting other than "success, no issues" occurred again on an instance I updated to 2012 SP3.

If you are referring to specifically SQL 2014 Upgrade Advisor , then no but SQL 2016 Upgrade Advisor does check for 2014 also and yes i ran this tool against SQL 2005,2008R2 as well as SQL 2012 successfully.
