Hi all,
I've been getting mixed thoughts on this and wanted to get a more general consensus.
I have a production server running SQL 2005 SP2 that needs to be updated. Obviously SP3 and SP4 are out now, and I'm wondering what issues/benefits everyone has had on either version. I know when SP4 was released there were various performance issues (locking taking significantly longer, index defrag time increasing exponentially, etc), but I haven't found anything recent about it.
Are there still performance issues in SP4 vs SP3? What version is everyone else running? I am planning on upgrading this server to 2012 within the next few months, but have to get it patched in the mean time for pci compliance.
Thanks!

all mine are at SP4 and I haven't had an issue. Apply MS11-049 security patch as well.
