I want to update my flag column based on incoming row i.e if suppose accountid already exist then flag column should get 'u' as value where u means update, if it does not exist then it should get 'I' as value where I means inserting new record. Please can i anyone give some suggestions on how to achieve this?

if exists(select accountid from table where accountid = [some value])
update table set column = 'u'
else
update table set column = 'i'
