  I have 2 rows

  machine     location

  test1          null

  test1          125

  test2          null

  test2          12345

  How can I update test1 (null) with test1 125 test2 (null) with test2 12345 etc

  If you only have one location per machine that is not null, this will work.

  update T1

    set location = T2.location

  from yourtableowner.yourtable T1

  inner join yourtableowner.yourtable T2

  on T1.machine = T2.machine

  and T1.location is null

  and T2.location is not null
