I am running SQL 2K. Have encountered an error when trying to open, create, or design a table in Enterprise Manager. The following error message is returned:
'MS Design Tools - class not registered'
I've tried to reinstall the program, re register the dll's that couldn't be registered upon installation (msmdcb80.dll, msmdgd80.dll, msmdgd80.dll, msolui80.dll, and, msolui80.dll), and the problem is still happening.
Am I missing something else?
Thanks in advance.

Typically when I've seen an error with the client tools I've just applied the latest service pack (SP2) and that gets everything working again. I'm a little concerned in your case though, because you've tried to register the .DLLs. When you run regsvr32, you are getting a message saying the component was successfully registered?

I applied SP2, and that didn't fix it. When I run regsrv32, I get the message that says that the component was not successfully registered.
I've checked the newsgroups, and several other people are experiencing the same problem.
Thanks for your reply.

This question isn't meant to be insulting, it's one of those "check me off first" ones: Your user account has rights to install applications on the system, correct?
Can you give a few more details on your setup? OS, Service Pack of OS, Major apps installed?

No problem. My user account is setup as administrator.
I'm running Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP3. I have Office 2000 SR1 and Crystal Reports 8.0.
By the way, it used to work; however, I installed additional tools from the MS SQL 2000 CD, and the problem started after that. I can run Query Analyzer and Analysis Services without any errors.
I really appreciate your help. Thank you again!
