Unable to start SqlServerAgent

    I'm using sql server 2000 Desktop edition(sp4)

    I'm able to start sql server agent using my domain NTID/pwd but unable to do so using local user..

    I've created a user testuser and given local administrative privilages to this user. In EventViewer i'm getting error as

    SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server (local); SQLServerAgent cannot start.

    Any idea whats going wrong here!!

    Make sure that the useid has "Log on as service" right. Rest try to start from command prompt. Also, sql server must be started at that time.

    Thanks Manu. I'll try these options. And ya, the sql server is running all the time.
