  I am trying to register my local Sql2000 server. I can connect to all remote servers with no issues, however, when I attempt to use my own server instance I get a "Sql server does not exist or access is denied.ConnectionOpen(connect))"

  I attempt access with both my NT login but not luck. Any info would be appreciated.

  Default instance or named instance? Did you specify the full name?

  Really stupid question coming..

  Is the service running locally? (sorry, had to ask).

  What port does the errorlog show the server running on?
