Unable to install KB update ( CU) . Is it already installed?

  • Hi,

    Please advise on the below.

    1. How to you check if you have already installed the sql server KB update? I am aware of the select @@version command however would like to know cuz one of the update which I am trying to install results in validation error ' no instance is there to update' and it will not even let me select the instance checkbox...so please share your thoughts.

When I checked the Summary log it says canceled by User...however the reason I canceled was it was giving a validation error. It does not say provide details about the validation error in the summary log file which is under Microsoft SQL server/130/log/summary.text

    2. After you install Sql server and ssms on the server, what are the areas which should be checked. I am doing the connectvity and services check for now, like they are up and running and able to open ssms etc. However I am instered to learn if there are additional things. Thanks!

  • I'd try checking in the following location:

Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features -> Installed Updates, then key in the search box the KB you're looking for (as KB########, note there's NO space between the KB and the numbers.)
