unable to connect to the instance

  • This is the error I am getting:

A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

    Checked TCP/IP: good to go

    Firewall Issues: all OK

Running 3 different instances on the same server but no problem.

Any help from the community will be highly appreciated.

    This issue has been solved

Out of curiosity, what was the issue?

  • My bad. I thought it was resolved but no.

I was able to restart the service but everytime I try to run a simple query. it gives me an error:

insufficient system memory in resource pool 'internal' to run this query:

    Any help?

  • Is resource governor enabled?

It could also be a bug, do you have all the service packs applied?

    Resource Governor is not enabled.

  • I just bumped up the MAX memory and enabled Resource Governor and its working fine now.

  • I don't know if its too late for me to ask for some help since this post is 3 days old.

I bumped up the memory and I also enabled Resource Governor but it just started giving me errors again:

    "Msg 701, Level 17, State 130, Line 1

There is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'default' to run this query."

  • need a biot more info on the server spec and the resources assigned (such as max mem setting) to the other instances.

need a biot more info on the server spec and the resources assigned (such as max mem setting) to the other instances.

We have 6 instances running on VM. 1 DB for 5 instances but 2 DB just for this problematic instance. We have about 32 GB of memory. 5 Instances are set to 4GB of max mem and this 1 is set to 6gb since we have 2 DB.

I created another instance and put one of the DB on that and now all 7 instances are running fine. My question is that why would that instance act like this. I have seen people having multiple DBs on 1 instance but for me, it became a problem.
