Hi,
We are running into the following problem after installing the SQL Server 6.5.
We have installed SQL Server 6.5 in the test machine(031265), with local system account being used for login. The server NT031265APPLGE is running (shows green light). The services - MSSQLServer, SNMP, SQLExecutive - are running. But, when we try to register this server, it gives us the following error message:
"Unable to connect to Server (reason: [SQL Server] Login failed). Register anyway? "
Thanks for your inputs.

Can you ping the machine? Sounds like a connectivity issue. Dbl check your password also.

for that first u have to make sql server client network utility enabled to enable that select the option from the sql server and after that specity TCp/IP protocol and then specify the alias name of the server or serer ip address just add that
ur problem will be solved after doing that then try to connect
now u will be able to connect

Thank you all who have replied. The problem actually was the username and the password. I was trying to register the server with a different username and password instead of the 'sa' and a blank password. The problem got solved now.
Thanks,
Anbarasu.
