Hi. I have installed SQL 2005 on my laptop (XP Pro SP3) and configured Reporting Services. I created a report using MVS but was unable to deploy. I attempted to connect to http://localhost/reportserver but IE7 returned HTTP 500. I reset permisiions in IIS 5 to inherit from parent, I now receive the following:
'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin' is denied
I added LAPTOP\ASPNET to folder security and gave write permissions but still no joy.
So before I make even more changes (generate different errors!) I thought I would post to see if anyone can advise how to set reporting Services up on XP IIS 5?
I have googled and tried various suggestions but no joy.
Report Server Status:
Instance MSSQLSERVER
Instance ID MSSQL.3
Report Server Virtual Directory:
Name: ReportServer
Web Site: Default Web Site
Report Manager Virtual Directory
Name: ReportServer
Web Site: Default Web Site
Windows Service Identity
Service Name: Report Server
Service Account: LocalSystem
Built-in Account: Local System
Web Service Identity:
Laptop\ASPNET
Database Setup:
Server Name: LAPTOP
Database Name: ReportServer
Credentials Type: Service Credentials
Many Thanks,
Phil.

Did you use the default instance or a named instance for your database. If your database has a named instance eg. localhost\SQL2005 the connection will be http://localhost/Reportserver$SQL2005

I used the default instance.
