Reporting Services is going to be the end of me!
I'm attempting to use Reproting Services so our Project managment department can run reports against project server. We had this running once on a different server. We got a new server and did not bring the config over due to them not using it yet. None the less - We started fresh.
I'm to the point now I can get to http://localhost/reports and ../reportserver but am not able to access it on a remote computer. Is there something i'm missing? Thanks!

Assuming you are using 2005 what do you get when you open up the Report Server Configuration Tool?
What error do you get when you try to connect from another PC?
I'm assuming you are replacing localhost with the server name?
If you use IIS Admin do you see the ReportServer and Reports virtual directories?

Yes - It is 2005....
When I try to access http:// /reports for example on either the server or a workstation I do not get an error - but the prompt comes up over and over asking for a username and password...then finally says You are not authorized.
If I attempt http://localhost/reports on the server it works just fine.
I did check IIS Admin and both Reports and Reportserver virtual directories are under the Default Website

I cannot personally speak to this - but I did sit in on a session at Summit where Stacia Misner of Data Inspirations spoke to this. She has a document that outlines the common security issues encountered with setting up report servers. I have not yet reviewed the document but was led to believe it was comprehensive. The link to the document is

I hope this helps.

Hi...ncartwright,
I think..you can try this once...(if you haven't yet!!)
Please make sure that you have set access permissions for the concerned user....I mean...by opening Reporting Services through SSMS...jst set the permissions...over there...
I suppose...it should help!! 🙂
