Hi Folks,
Got a big process that runs once a week to go through and delete old data in our database, When we run this for the first time it will be getting rid of (and moving some) millions of records. In test runs this is taking upwards of 24 hours taking into account all the calcs it is doing first. But that is in FULL mode. If turned to SIMPLE we are down to 5 hours.
So would it be bad news to turn to SIMPLE at the start, then put back to FULL at the end? I take it that would do the trick for the speed, then as long as we had a full backup made just before the process kicked off we would be home and dry on the disaster recovery front?
Any thoughts?

Make sure you do a Full Backup AFTER the process as well, otherwise you will not be able to restore from Transactions logs as the chain will be broken.
