Trying to Find the Right Font

  • This may seem silly to some, but I work in the SQL Text Editor most of the day. Because of that, I have been on a quest for a good font that is easy on the eyes. If I knew there was a good color combination I would use it, too. Does anyone have any suggestions for fonts, font sizes, colors, etc?

    Thank you.

  • Personally I change the font to Courier New and leave the colouring and sizing alone as I am used to the keyword colours so changing them would make it confusing.

  • And I quite like Consolas because that's what Visual Studio uses. Not sure that you'll get a consensus here. But I do agree with Anthony about the colours - I stick with the defaults.

  • Lucida Caligraphy?

    I like this one!

  • When I present I blow the font up large and I change it to Lucida Sans. It seems to work well for most people. I don't use that normally (maybe I should), but it does work for presentations.

  • Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your input. Looks like Lucida Sans is the winner for me!

  • Personally, non-fixed width fonts drive me nuts in programming, especially for output.

    Also I suggest typing the word "oil" in upper and lower cases and the digits 0 and 1 to make sure you can distinguish between them all and thus avoid hard-to-find errors.

    My preference is Courier New for programming and Century Schoolbook for paperbacks.

  • i use a font called "Anonymous", which is a fixed width, sans serif font that looks kind of like verdana, i guess;

    i make that my default in a lot of apps (SQL, Visual Studio, editplus) because it's easier to see spacing with fixed width.
