Truncating transaction log ..Occurs when?

    Hi,

    Can any one answer please?

    1) In a full backup mode, if I do complete backup from EM, will this truncate the tran log? ( This is what I think so, but someone here says may not be! )

    Or is it at when You apply "Recover db"?

    2) Applying checkpoints frequently through routine jobs, will this help in truncating log?

    3) Will "BACKUP LOG" help in truncating the tran log?

    Hope I get the answer (not redirected to some link!).

    well if you are taking backup from em than on backup dialog box select options tab and click on "remove inactive entries from transaction log" anyway default for this option is checked already. so just backup and transaction logn will be truncated with all the completed transactions.....
