Technically the answer x <- "True" is also correct as you never said that you want the boolean value of True to be stored and this is a valid string value in R.
Anyway nice to see questions about R.

Dealing with data scientists I've been learning R out of self defense.
The book they recommended as a starter is "R for Everyone" by Jared P. Lander.
Having said that it is not recommended to use the T abbreviation since it evaluates to TRUE in R. It's not wrong, it's just not best practice.
