Hi,
i've got problems to Export Data with DTS Package.
Between Object "Txt File" and "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" is a Task Data Transofrmation (arrow) which contains Source and Destination.. thats OK
I've set the Source (View) on the first page.
On the second page i've have to set the Destination.. OK
Now the trouble... when I click on Destination, then a popup window comes and i can (must) fill up the columns from the view.. OK.. very nice, BUT ! when I do this... nothing happens...no ones of the columns will be overtaken to the Destination(File) columns.
What I absolutley didn't understand, that's worked allready 6 months ago... my colleague have the same symptoms.
If I do the same from Extras/Data Transoformation Services/Export (window) than works.
I've found nothing about this problem in the internet.
Can everybody help ?
Thx, a lot !

when you create source text from a table in the dts package, and you select the destination tab, you should get a window that says DEFINE COLUMNS. At that point do you select POPULATE from SOURCE? After that you should also hit the EXECUTE button.
Have you done these steps?

I've been experiencing the same problem intermitantly for several months. To further compound the problem, sometimes when I attempt to Define Colums via Populate from Source the SQL Server Enterprise Management Console simply disappears from the screen. No error window, no blue screen, no nothing. It just vanishes completely. I do receive a few event log entries stating that MMC crashed in MSVCRT but there's nothing specific enough to troubleshoot. It seems to be related to the result set being used to generate colums. Certain views/tables/queries appear to cause the problem while others do not. Very strange. Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps found a cause/solution?

I had the same problem. SP4 fixed it for me. There apparently is a bug in the SP3 version of the DTS Designer.
Good Luck.
