OK so I'm a Newbee and not that sure of what I'm doing here. Have tried to follow examples (youtube, Microsoft articles) and get to the same point.
I have a existing Windows 2008 SQL server and are trying to "add" reporting services to SQL. The puropse of this is to add the reports function to our CRM (2011) installation,
So I run the SQL set up and all seems fine, but I get to the point of "selecting a Instance" and as per the instructions I have seem I select the "default instance". When I do this I get the error;
The Instance Name is allready in USE.
what should I do now???
I dont want to add a new instance of SQL as all I want to do is add reporting services to the currently installed and running SQL installation..
Any help greatly accepted..
With thanks

After you run setup of sqlserver 2008 R2, you select "installation" and select the first option "new sqlserver or add features" and then in the while going through the wizard, you get a place where you can select "instance features" and "shared Features". In the instance features select "Reporting Services" and in the "shared features" select "Business Intelligent Development Studio" and click next and you should be good to go. you need not install Database engine services to get reporting services.
Hope this helps out. If it works, please drop a note.
Thanks.
