I'm having a problem while I'm trying to register the Remote OLAP server, FYI My Pc and the remote server are not in the same domain, I've done some checking if there is any issue related to the network, but unfortunately I can not figure out what is the exact matter of this problem, my friend's PC can register the server just by adding the file HOSTS at his PC with the IP address and the hostname of the remote server, altought we don't register our PC in the same domain with the remote server's domain, I try to do the same, but nothing is happened.. I also have reinstalled the SQL server and the Analysis Server and added the SP4 but another windows come up when I Tried to register it again, and the title is Connection to server Failed, the detail is :
Errors Occured while connecting to BI01.
Cannot Open connection to Analysis server 'BI01'.
Error in data [possible data corruption]"
so help me guys, what should I do to solve this problem?? tnx in advance for the answer..

When you applied the service pack/s, did you apply both the SQL and the analysis services SP? They are different.
You need to also ensure that the service pack you apply to your client pC is the same as the SP level on the server (ie not above nor below).
Can you ping the server (ie can your machine even see it on the network)?

I applied both SP4 for the SQL and Analysis Service, and I already can ping the remote server(My PC can detect the remote server), so is there anything that I should do??

Hello Ikhsan.
Check if you have secutiry authorization to access the Analysis Server through direct connection or http (you may use this methor just adding http: when registering).
From BOL.
"...if the Analysis server being registered is a remote computer, your user name must also be included in the OLAP Administrators group on the local computer. If your user name is added to the OLAP Administrators group, you may have to log off and log back on to Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 before you can register the server."
You may find more information searching for "How to register an Analysis Services" in books online.
Hope this help.

We have a Windows 2003 server and also ended up adding the OLAP Administrators group to the share MSOlapRepository$ created by Analysis Services located here C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin.
