Hello
I have a Cognos background and I'm looking to understand more about the MS BI stack.
I've used MS SQL (T-SQL, DTS, SSIS and a little SSRS)
I've have also used Excel pretty extensively although I haven't really used Power Pivot, View or Map
I'm looking to set all this up on my machine at home so I can play around and familiarise myself with MS BI
At the moment I have Home Office 365 - although I can't seem to get Power View or Power Pivot?
I have a 180 day trial of MS SQL Server 2014 up and running (SSAS, SSIS and SSRS work)
2 questions:
1. Is there a way to get Powerview and Powerpivot on home O365?
2. If I install a trial version of sharepoint, is there anything else that I am missing?
I think if I refer to something like this, I've pretty much got it covered: http://jaliyaudagedara.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/microsoft-business-intelligencebi-stack.html
Thanks
Damian.

PowerQuery: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39379
PowerPivot/PowerView: Should be Built in - go to Options/addins/manage com addins and select the addins to enable them
Power BI is the next big thing - there is a preview here : https://www.powerbi.com/dashboards/downloads/designer/[/url]

Thanks for the response
Unfortunately, it seems as though the home version does not get Powerpivot or view
I would have to buy the full blown Excel product
Would have thought MS would at least have a developer license here!

I would be interested to hear why you say that? I have the Home edition at home ( 😛 ) and have these tools installed and working.

My version is Office 365 which provides 2013 for local use
I've done a bit of digging (including ringing MS) and found that its available on earlier versions but not this
What version do you have?
Thanks

It turns out I have Office 365 Home Premium, which has Excel 2013 version 15.0.4719.1000.
I don't know if the "premium" tag is what makes the difference here?
