According to the SQL Server 2005 Administrator’s Pocket Consultant, on page 367 under “Preparing for Transactional Replication” it reads. “When you use transactional replication, an initial snapshot is sent to the distributor, and this snapshot is then updated on a periodic basis, such as once a month.”
I am using the Central Publisher Model which maintains the publisher and distributor on the same server. When a snapshot is created during normal business hours it causes blocking issues.
I would like to avoid this from happening by scheduling the “periodic”, “once a month” update of this snapshot to not happen or to happen in the early AM hours of the day.
If anyone could enlighten me on this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Andrew,
You can set up a schedule for your snapshot agent when you create a new publication. When the snapshot agent screen appears, check the box, "schedule the snapshot agent to run at the following times" Then choose "change" and select your frequency, and run time. I think you can change this in the properties of your publication if you've already set up the replication, but I'm not sure how to get to it. Hope this helps..
