Training Programmers: Accessing Base Tables or Stored Procs

"Though shalt have no greater database authority than the DBA."

What if the DBA does not know anything except backup and restore database? I have seen a lot of those DBAs around. As a matter of fact, I receive daily newsletter from SQL Server perfromance.com, it said only about half of the DBAs in the industry know what they are doing, the rest only carried the title.

This is where one of my lesser known quotes comes into play... "Give them the opportunity to FAIL."

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
