Hello all,
I have been given the task of making sure that our company SQL Servers are up and running.
Can anyone recommend tools that do the following:
- warn me in case a SQL Server instance is down
- warn me in case connections to a SQL Server database are not possible anymore
TIA
Hans

the forum has a section on third party tools - I use sql diagnostic manager, have done for about 8 or 9 years, it handles all this effortlessly and allows me to get on with more interesting stuff!! There are several such tools, Terratrax have one. Be careful of some, such as spotlight, which can be heavy on resource.
You can also write your own stuff, there's been a series of articles on the site about this.

Thank you for this answer Colin.
I had a look at it and it sounds really promising. Thanks again for pointing me in this direction.
