Pharisees and Sadducees were stuck in their ways, would not learn - and at times hypocritical.
Hypocrites - act contrary to their speech (different from acting contrary to belief).
Samaritans - were willing to learn (we can only speculate about the mass population due to records being limited) and behaved on a higher level than they were esteemed. They at least are willing to help another - no matter origin.
I don't see "us" fitting in either of the first three categories. You (in general - not a specific person) help where you can, and don't just pass by - you try to teach and solve a problem. If that means helping somebody to learn to fish so they can do it on their own in the future then that is the best possible way. That is a good thing. Sometimes we see people go off - that isn't so good. But a few acts are not enough to condemn a person if that person demonstrates a change.
