I'm sticking to my claret.
I prefer Haut Medoc - it is earthier; a matter of personal preference, of course.

I don't prefer one to the other, I just look to see if I can get a decent wine at a reasonable price. As a result I don't drink French wine except when I'm in Britain or France, because in Spain or Germany or Italy or Austria there's too much competition on value for money for French wine to look like a reasonable proposition. Of course the concept of "reasonable price" for wine is quite different in Britain, it seems to be considered reasonable to pay 8 or 10 pounds in a supermarket for a bottle that would cost 1 or 2 euros in Lanzarote, wine prices are all a rip-off, and the idiot government is complaining that they are too low so they'll probably be pushed up again somehow.
