  • It's Tuesday, that means another snowstorm here in upstate NY.

  • It's cold here. Thankfully not much wind, but the coldest day in my 12 years in CO.

Where in upstate NY? My coldest day ever was the day before spring break in Syracuse. -42F with wind. 24 hours later I had driven to 76F Gainesville, FL.

  • The Albany NY area. We hit about -14 below last week. Average highs in the mid teens lately. Now even more snow.

I did the opposite of you many years ago. I left 82 F and clear blue skies in south west Florida to come to upstate NY for a new job. My second day of work (in April) at my new job it snowed over 17 inches and the high was in the mid twenties. So, I guess I get what I chose. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • It's bitter cold here in Omaha too. I only have to put up with it for 2 more weeks. Bahamas here I come!

  • Florida is having to suffer through 70 degree weather. I don't know how we're going to manage.

  • I can't wait to visit! I'll be in Fort Lauderdale for one night, then out to sea from Miami to Bahamas on Royal Carribean, then back to Fort Lauderdale for another full day before going back to Omaha. Then, 2 weeks later, I'll be in Phoenix for 4 days of golf in the desert......the best thing about an Omaha winter is escaping it.....you'd know Brandie!

The snow's not the problem. It's the wind and the ice that kills. Especially with all those darned hills. The Fontenelle (sp) area is impossible to get through when the roads freeze. Those hills are STEEP.

Yeah, when I lived in upstate NY, the snow was cool (pun intended) but when it got icy out there, ugh. Heard that some of the areas hit by the big storm are getting sleet. That's a sure sign to stay inside where it's warm (as long as the power stays on). Freezing rain is the worst.

My aunt was in Pittsburg for a few years, they had some hills that were just plain closed in the winter months. Without tank treads, you weren't going down some of these hills in anything resembling a controlled fashion. The only problem with tank treads is they tend to be rough on the roads. :w00t:
