    cheating

Lots 'o debate from last night: http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=300915130

    Jeter's "fake" hit by pitch.

He could have said something - I think. But team sports at that level teach you to shut up and rely on the call of the ref. I know they don't take that advice when the call goes against them - but that is the thought process. Same happens in football and basketball. Is it cheating or is it requiring the officials to call it?

  • At that level it's part of the game. Winning matters in competitive sports, and I'd include High school (looking for college scholarships), college (money for school and pro potential) and pro sports.

However if I were playing in the old man's league, I wouldn't take a walk here. Heck, I get out of the way. I won't take a hit by pitch if I can avoid it. Doesn't seem fair to me. Others disagree in my league, but I think you play the game, and you earn what you get. You don't take it.

I completely agree with you. I've disagreed with refs in games before even though the ref made a call favorable to me but was wrong.

  • Blood moon

The moon was red last night, I'm guessing due to the dust in the air. The spring winds are picking up, but the rains haven't started. It's bone dry and dusty here.
