FLORIDA! 😛'Nuff said, yes?
(mugginess wimps. @=)
Bah. You want mugginess, check out Houston, TX in the summer. UGH. Tampa is nice compared to that!
Come on, Kit. You can't compare a coastal city (Tampa) to an inland city (Houston). Inland Florida is far worse than coastal Florida. And I'm sure Houston is far worse that Galveston.
Perspective, my dear Watson. It's all about perspective. @=)
Houston is in the middle of a wet prairie (read - swamp that is almost filled in, but not quite). There are only two months of the year where the humidity is actually comfortable.
As for comparing them, of course I can... Houston sucks, Tampa doesn't! Humidity levels have been similar between the two cities, it's just Tampa often has a breeze (while Houston doesn't) and Tampa generally cools off in the night (which Houston doesn't).
Having lived 10 years in Los Angeles with a dry heat and seven years in Houston with a wet heat, I'll take the dry heat anytime. Tampa is a nice middle ground. But I will be glad when we are through August. Heat Indexes above 100º are getting to me.

That's most of FLorida. Good ol' reclaimed swamp land. I'm from Northeast Florida, so I don't get any of that Tampa breeze you're talking about.

Tell me about it! Weather.com for my area today says "91º, feels like 102º."
Then, underneath it, it says "Hot." :pinch: And I'm saying to myself "Ya THINK?"

hehe... Just need a nice tropical depression to go from the tip of Florida to the Panhandle, cool things off... get the humidity on the ground instead of in the air... good fun for all! After all, the weather guys are saying it's going to be an active year and we're only at Bonnie so far. Might as well have one of the storms of the "busy year" actually do something nice! (Nice, that is, if you like weather and a taste of weather extremes. 😀 But just a taste, definitely don't need a Cat 5 Hurricane bearing down on me. Had that in Houston with Rita, don't need to repeat it.)

I grew up near Rochester, NY. While I will admit I do miss winter in Florida, I don't miss having to drive on snowy streets.

Do you two live in the same area or is this just a major coincidence?
Oh, another random word. Synchronicity!

Different States but same civic duty.

Or shoveling snow, or scraping ice off the windshield, or nose hairs freezing together, AHHHH, winter in Minnesota. I love CA, although not fond of the earthquakes!

Yup - just a coincidence. And they treat you like a felon when they summon you to do it.

You mean you're not?? I am now thoroughly disillusioned. :w00t:
