Tips for 70-448

  • Today I have taken the 70-448 exam (SSIS, SSAS and SSRS), and although I've been working with these products for a few years now, it would only have taken a few more questions right to pass. Therefore I'd like to share some tips for anyone considering taking this exam.

First of all, when you're not strong in multiple choice questions, study extra hard... the lady at the training center told me afterwards that Microsoft exams are known for a tricky way how multiple choice questions are asked (if she had told me this before I took the test, I might have reconsidered taking the test at all and save myself 200 bucks since multiple choice questions is definitely not my strongest thing).

In terms of the structure of the training, the questions are not asked by topic, but the SSIS, SSAS and SSRS questions are in a random order. This is not really annoying I must say, but I can advise to read very carefully about what topic it's about. Not just if it's about SSIS, SSAS or SSRS, but also if they're talking about a report, instance, package, cube, dimension, etc... it sounds trivial, but it sometimes helps to understand the question better.

Finally, if you're not confident with using the BI suite in an environment where performance, high-availability and concurrent development in a team is important, I'd say the questions in the exam will be very difficult.

    Good luck!
