I am using SQL Server 2008 and am trying to generate a date dimension in Analysis Services using the "Generate a time table on the server" option and using the Date template. When I run Generate Relational Schema from the Database menu, I get the following error:
"time dimension was not generated because it is bound to a time binding"
I have not been able to find any information on what is causing this error. All help would be appreciated.

I haven't been able to solve the problem yet. I'll post a solution if I find one.

If you can post some more information about what led up to that error then people may be able to help. Can you give step by step exactly what you did and when the error occurred? Also, what version of SSAS?

Hi,
I was getting the same error because i don't have a sysadmin rights on the server. Once i have a sysadmin rights on that server, i'm able to create a time dimension with out any error.

I do have sysadmin role assigned to my user, I just created the entire database, created four other dimension tables and now I want to use the Generate Schema Wizard to create and populate a Date Dimension table for me and I still get this error:
The 'Date' dimension was not generated because it is bound to a time binding.
Does anybody have any further information other than that already post (I already know which boxes to tick).
