Well as a young child I remember the Pacific Coast Conference and later through a few changes the PAC-8 the PAC-10 and now PAC-12. Some think it will be more soon, I do not like it, do not hate it. It is what it is. As long as there is good football and the hometown boys win once in a while that is fine.

Well, I noticed some talk on The Thread about World Cup Rugby yesterday!
Anyone for rugby chatter here?

On the way to the UK last week, I watched the England/SA replay of the last World Cup and was disappointed. Almost a complete kicking game for field position.
However while over there, watched some Ireland/Italy and it was a nice game. Good scrum work, some nice runs through the middle and some rough tackles.

BTW, noticed of the last 8 teams in the Rugby World Cup, 6 are English in origin (England, South Africa, Wales, Australia, NZ, Ireland). France and Argentina are the others.

I am not sure that many Welsh people consider themselves English in origin ๐

No science here, but I'd like to see:
IRE v WAL = IRE
ENG v FRA = ENG
RSA v AUS = AUS
NZL v ARG = NZL

I hope no Welshman see that. You could be the target of a bradlofruddiaeth attempt!
And as for the Irish response to that remark ...well, probably "Bรกs le Steve" is the mildest response you'll get. ๐ More likely you'll be requested to undertake practically impossible auto-sexual athletics to such an extent that the intent of the milder response is achieved.
Presumably all you Americans, except those in Boston and the policemen in New York City (the Native American Irishmen) are Mongolian in origin?

English as in the English dominated world. I know Irish, Welsh, etc. can be different, but they're bound under the same language for the most part. England conquered and colonized most of the world, including America.
Alas, Americans apparently don't stand a chance in soccer or rugby World Cups.

Well, not entirely true. There is one Canadian team (Toronto Blue Jays) that won the World Series in 1992 and 93.
Also, if you're talking WBC, Japan has won the last two.

The only thing we're guaranteed to win is the American Football championship. Mostly because we don't have any competition outside the US (yet)

I'm still waiting for the day that the Toronto Argonauts, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and British Columbia Lions join the NFL!!!

Poll on Dan Patrick this morning: Who gets back in the groove first? A-Rod or Tiger?
I was thinking Tiger, but Rich Eisen thought that Tiger might never win again. Anything.

I'd go with Tiger. If you're past your prime in golf, you still have a shot of at least being competitive. Baseball, not so much.
