"The report server installation is not initialized"

  • Hi, I have a reporting server instance up and running, but when I try to connect to its webpage, I get the message "The report server installation is not initialized. (rsReportServerNotActivated)". Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

  • Check out this MS technet page:

  • Hi, the above thread corresponds to SQL Server 2005. I don't see the same options in SQL Server 2008 R2. Does anybody know where to find the same thing in 2008?

  • Try this one:

And try googling your error. There are a lot of possible solutions out there, it just depends on which one is closest to your actual problem.

  • Brandie, deleting the encryption key will cause you to lose all of your saved connections associated with your reports. I used the forums because the Google results aren't sufficient. Up to now, I've had fairly good results of people posting helpful replies

  • It would help, in the future, if you post that you have tried Google what results you've gotten. We have too many users here with errors like this that don't even bother because they expect us to have an instant answer. If you tell us you've tried, it will prevent people from responding exactly like I did.
