The irk about the "Use 32-bit" option

    Today marked the upteenth time I'm confronted with an error with either an ssis or dts package or job in sql server fails with an error that turns out to have nothing to do with the issue

    So in the end the error was caused that by doing an update of the package the "Use 32-bit" option was ticked off

    (Here it was a job to collect data from an oracle source,but I'm seeing this also when dealing with excel sources)

    Now what is my issue, we now are in a kind of inbetween 32 & 64 bit

    Why is the option not "Use 64-bit",that would make more sense,since the option is not ticked on by default it would auto revert to the 32 bit version which works instead of the 64 bit version which is not yet supported for most products.
