Also, be sure to note the context of when RTM is used. It could me "Read The Manual" but in a different context it could mean "Release To Manufacturing."

RTFM just adds a colorful metaphor to the mix. As for being safe for use in inner office emails, that depends on to whom the email is being sent.

I would recommend avoid using RTFM. If someone gets offended it can become an HR nightmare.

I occasionally use DTM (Do The Math) or it's extended form DTFM (Do The Freaking Math) when presented with a suggestion that obviously doesn't compute financially or logistically.
