Red Gate wants to hire me and they will be flying me in to PASS on a private corporate jet for the announcement. I better hurry to the airport before I miss the flight.

Let's see.
Red-Gate just bought a new office building on the edge of a cliff at the top of a mountain and signed you to a 50 year contract on your 50th birthday?

Steve,
The only plausible explanation is that you will recreate John Glenn's flight aboard Friendship 7 of '1962-02-20'. You will launch on '2012-02-20'. The announcement is today because you need the time to prepare and be trained.
This has all of the elements. '2012-02-20' is the 50th anniversary of that flight. It would be a great view. And, there is just a hint of danger.

I reckon they're gonna send a dba into space with an ipad, to show how easy it is to manage your sql servers remotely.
I'll volunteer if I get to keep the ipad.

Steve, this is just a guess, but has Red Gate offered you a lofty executive position?
