Is the November 7 date correct? That's a Wednesday night, aka the evening after the first full day of regular sessions. Last year it was a Tuesday evening, so naturally I am curious.

Nope, Tuesday, Nov 6. Apparently someone didn't look at a calendar, and then neither did I when reviewing things.

I dont know if I will make it for Summit this year... 🙁 I hope the company will allow me to go this year as well.

Wow! That dude that won XDBA last year? He looks OLD! 😀
I have to tell you that if you haven't gone to one of these SQLServerCentral parties, you just don't know what you're missing. You don't have to play the tables and not everyone does. Not only was I able to meet up with some longtime friends that I've not seen in a while but I was also able to check off at least a dozen people from my "bucket list" and met a bunch more people that I thought I'd never have a chance to meet. And having the opportunity to listen to some of the big dogs of SQL during a casual conversation is something that just doesn't happen everyday.
There's also the XDBA award ceremony. It's a short interruption in the party but long enough for some of the world's greats to take the time to speak briefly on the subject of what being a DBA means and to congratulate this year's winner.

My thought question: Have you ever been told that your query runs too fast?
My advice:
INDEXing a poor-performing query is like putting sugar on cat food. Yeah, it probably tastes better but are you sure you want to eat it?
The path of least resistance can be a slippery slope. Take care that fixing your fixes of fixes doesn't snowball and end up costing you more than fixing the root cause would have in the first place.
