When you have an Americo-centric question like this, you should provide an alternative, such as one based on St. Georges Day or similar. (OK, so then you'd need St Andrew's, St David's, and I suppose for Yorkshire, St Geoffrey Boycott).Whilst clicking on "Post" I realised that I don't even know when Thanksgiving Day is (apart from everyday) so I don't think I can do this one.
A question for Steve: what is the ratio of US-based registrants to non-US-based registrants for SQL Server Central?
If there only was a site where you could type in a question and it would search the web for you... 😉
That would be a million dollar idea or more like a 382.47 billion dollar idea. Imagine that they included that functionality on any browser without needing to enter the site. :w00t:

Well, I learnt something today. When Thanksgiving is 🙂
Seeing as the question needed two answers, and only two queries gave the same result, the answer was obvious. So no need for Google after all.
And I think SQL Server Central has more non-USA subscribers than USA. Asia is quite a big place....

I'm not sure about that. Forum posts get tend to decrease significantly on US holidays.
Or maybe Asia has more subscribers and USA has more active users?

Thanks for the interesting statistic. One thing is certain - while Thanksgiving is an American holiday, I genuinely hope that everyone in the world has a reason to gather with family and friends, eat a fantastic meal together and appreciate one another.
As for the day after, Black Friday, I don't participate myself. It starts ridiculously early (4:00 AM or Thanksgiving evening) and gets pretty ugly. I guard the days I get to sleep in for an hour and enjoy the day with my family, so it isn't worth getting up and fighting the crowds just to have a chance on saving $50 on stuff. Of course, the stores are already out of most stuff they put on sale, so it becomes even less worth it.

or the day when Bernard Matthews died. Hows that for irony.

Thanks Steve.
Just extended your query to identify current years thanksgiving day:
declare @date datetime
set @date=dateadd(yy,0,getdate())
SELECT DATEADD( DAY, 5-datepart(dw,DATEADD( WEEK, -1, DATEADD( MONTH, 11, DATEADD(yy, datediff(yy, 0, @date), 0)))), DATEADD( WEEK, -1, DATEADD( MONTH, 11, DATEADD(yy, datediff(yy, 0, @date), 0))));
