  Field defined as varchar 8000 but SQL Query only retrieves 255 chars and, in IIS, only will display 255 chars. Max strlength changed to accomodate. What are we missing?

  In Query Analyser, the results are limited, by default, to 256 characters.

  Select Tools, Options.

  In the Results Tab, change Maximum Characters per column to the required value.

  Not sure about IIS.
