I've just setup snapshot replication for mssql 2000. I need to test it. What is the best way to do a test that will make the Subscriber the primary server and the Publisher not publishing any longer for the duration of the Disaster Recovery test?
One of the articles I read says to disable the publisher/subscriber on the publisher and subscriber. When I did that, all the replication are gone including the distribution databases. So when I need to revert back to the publisher to publish, I need to setup replication again.
Is there another simple way to do it ?

not that I know of, you need repoint the apps to the subscriber, then rebuild the repl and repoint back to the publisher

have a look at bi-directional tranasactional replication.
