I am sorry, i didnt know where to put this topic exactly... i have recently started working in teradata.
Can anyone here help me with a doubt?
i need to move trillions of rows from one table to other.
Which is gonna be the fasted way?
creating a table and then select * from
or a way like select * into which is minimally logged in sql.
Please help

There are resources that will be much better for you in regards to Teradata than this site. Are you a Teradata user or admin? Trillions of rows is a major undertaking for a user operation. I'd consult a seasoned Teratata admin as to how to best approach. At the very least, you'll want to make sure your new table has the same primary index so your moves are amp to amp. If you move to a different primary index, you're likely going to blow up your spool space.

john, I am a teradata user. Yes, that is what i am worried about. Can you please suggest me any such forum which is this active?

I have been out of the Teradata world for around a year now. I never really found a good Teradata community like we have here for SQL Server. I think the Teradata site has their own forums, but I don't think the user community is as robust as we are here on SSC. I'd search for a random Teradata question on Google and see what results it brings back. Some of those results should be for Teradata forums. I'd recommend joining the ones that look legit and posting your real question there. There's still a chance someone here may post some useful answers, but you should seek out Teradata specific experts as well.
