Running 2005 Std. 64bit SP3 on VM Ware ESX with NAS
Tempdb mdf file sitting at 4GB, tempdb database properties show 99% free space but I can't shrink the file.
There is a second data file at 700 MB which I can shrink but it only shaves off a few MB.
Also in the shrink file dialog it shows Currently Allocated at 8 MB and Available Free Space is -2.56 MB(-32%), very strange.
Any thoughts?

DBCC UPDATEUSAGE
Don't shrink tempDB without completely and totally quiescing the server. It's documented to potentially cause corruptions in TempDB.
