April Fools were disappointing by their absence this year. I love both spotting them and falling for them. I also enjoy a bit of Schadenfreude when I see people being suckered who lack the sense of humour or humility to see the funny side of falling for a clever prank.

I quite liked the one from National Instruments about their new Flux Capacitor Module (NI-1985).

Not to start any debate or controversy on the topic, but I thought this was a fun April Fools joke I caught Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoGRlS53U_k

I think "April Fools" jokes in a professional communication is childish and worthless.
I have unsubscribed from your rag.

Maybe I'm asking this in the wrong thread, but can anyone tell me where I can find documentation on DBCC TimeWarp? ;-D

Last Friday, the day before April 1, a fire started beneath a section of I-85 in downtown Atlanta. Whatever happened, the fire department struggled to put it out and the concrete bridge eventually collapsed. Both the north and southbound side of the 12 lane freeway in the busiest section of town will be out of service for weeks and possibly months. I don't know if it was started as a practical joke, but no one is laughing.

I am more of a fan of the pranks that make someone BELIEVE something has happened when it hasn't. You get the human reaction followed by relief without any danger physically or otherwise. Most people seem to react well when they know that they were fooled as opposed to done over.

I just got sucker... convinced to give iRacing a try by some co-workers. They announced on Saturday a new vehicle being added to the sim, the Porsche 133:

Now, if you Google the Porsche 133, you'll see a fine example of German (tractor) engineering, perfectly suitable for putting in astounding lap times...

I was kinda disappointed in what I saw this year. Normally Slashdot has some great ones, this year I just was not impressed. Having said that, the EFF did a very good job.

Sorry, this year, in the UK, they were cracking, IMO. We were nearly convinced by the idea that a polar bear was wandering around North Uist (in the Shetlands, half way to the arctic circle from most of the UK) except they didn't mention some pertinent details that are obvious if you've been there . And the idea of George Osbourne having his own line of underwear makes me smile... (perhaps you have be British to find that one funny; just that he's always been such a strait-laced school-boy faced serious politician)
